Grounded Youth Conference Doctrinal Beliefs

The Bible:
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God. It’s the sufficient doctrinal source for God’s people on all matters of faith and practice. We believe God verified that he spoke through the biblical authors by working miracles through them and giving them accurate prophecies about future events. We deny that the original autographs of the biblical books had any errors, that the Bible is merely a human book, or that New Covenant members need any other source of divine special revelation for doctrinal matters.
God:
We believe there is one infinite, personal, triune God who eternally exists in three distinct divine persons: God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe God is able to work supernaturally within our natural world. We deny that the persons of the Trinity are not equally divine persons, that the natural universe is all there is, that natural beings and processes are all that’s knowable, or that supernatural events have never occurred.
Jesus:
We believe God the Son is fully God, fully human, he’s one divine person, and has two distinct natures: a divine nature and a human nature. We believe salvation is only through Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God (Son of God) that became flesh for our salvation, to model perfect human behavior, and to reveal God to us. We deny that Jesus was merely a man, that he ever sinned, that his divine nature is inferior to the Father’s, or that salvation can come through any means other than through Jesus’ atoning death on the cross.
Creation:
We believe the universe and life were created through God’s supernatural creative acts, not through natural processes. We believe that “in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day” (Ex. 21:11). We deny that the universe began or continues to exist apart from God’s causal activity, that life naturally formed from non-living matter, and that the various kinds of creatures are all related due to a universal evolutionary tree.
Humanity:
We believe all humans are created in God’s image and have inherent value, meaning, and purpose from conception. Yet, all humans have sinned and have inherited a morally deficient nature from Adam and Eve after the Fall. Nevertheless, God continues to love all humans and calls believers to do the same. We believe God reveals truth in Scripture and in his natural universe he made and designed us to discover truth via reason. We deny that humans are born morally good, that humans can save themselves, that our reason alone can save us apart from the Holy Spirit’s work, that God has favored races, or that there are superior/inferior races.

Salvation:
We believe all humans have sinned but all may be saved from sin, death, and hell by God’s grace through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This is the gospel message of salvation that we may come to believe due to the Spirit’s work in our hearts. We believe Jesus rose from the dead bodily on the third day after his crucifixion, he ascended into heaven where he intercedes for believers, and he will return one day to judge the world. We deny that humans can work for salvation, and that we can follow the moral law perfectly apart from the Holy Spirit’s sanctifying activity.
Marriage and Sexuality:
We believe God created humans to be either male or female, that God designed marriage to be a permanent union between one man and one woman, and that all sexual activity may only be within marriage. Thus, all societal institutions are obligated to direct citizens toward developing proper sexual identities, attractions, and conduct. We deny that biological males can ever be in any sense female or that females can be males, and we deny that marriage may be between members of the same sex or that sexual activity outside the bond of the husband-wife marital union can ever be morally permissible.
